I have two of the 5gal military jerry cans I was going to sell next week. They need new circular gaskets and a pour spout. Broke that on the last run. Doctor gave me permanent lifting restrictions, I don't want another surgery like this again. So, I'm switching to 3 gal ful cans.   

Figure on about 4 of them.

This time next week I am hoping to be at night zero campsite with a beer in hand.

How much gas are you recommending Andy?  Based on what Keith has been saying I'm currently planning to bring 20 gallons extra.  Is that too much?  Not enough?

That will be perfect, Glen.  2 or 3 jugs for you and one or two jugs for me on top of the 4 I am bringing for myself .   The Guide says 10-15 gallons per vehicle but I think Steve said something like 250 miles offroad and based on the 6-8mpg I get when towing the trailer offroad that comes to about 20 gallons extra for me.

I'm probably going to bring 6 cans myself so I will have extra fuel available if needed.

I will probably have extra gas also. Think I will have 20 gallons, and my truck shouldn't need that much.

Where is the guide?  I don't have a copy

20 gallons if you're not towing is probably overkill.  15 should be plenty.  You might get away with 10, but that's probably pushing it.

It probably is overkill. I think I used 5 gallons last year. Not sure if I will bring 4 cans or not, but the extra can would really be in case somebody else ran out.

Will also have a gallon of 2 stroke for the chainsaw. I might be full of gas. Haha

guessing you'll use more than 5 this time....no fuel stops after Tuesday morning.

All I gotta do is pack some clothes and load the cooler.  That'll be easier since there's no beer coming with me this time

I still have crap to do. My son broke a house window where I need to find time to fix. I have to put my skid plates back on. About an hour's worth of work. Trying to mount 4 new fuel cans to the roof rack. No more hauling fuel inside the X. I couldn't afford the fuel can mounts that come with the cans; expensive. Most of my crap is pulled for loading Saturday, got a little bit-o-wood and I'll probably ice the cooler Thursday. I didn't want to leave town with a messy house but...the hell with it.

 

Goal is to head out Sunday morning and be a bump on a log. As long as it doesn't turn into last year where I combed the city for 5 hours to replace a tire that I shredded before I even left the pavement, I'll be set.

I leave Friday around 4pm to start the long drive
